I did not honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the best way this year. Many folks are participating in a day of service today in his memory. I did not, but now, looking back, I wish I had done something. I'm not even sure how to go about it.Next year, I will be more active in my remembrance of him. He lives in my mind as one of the greatest men to ever live in the United States. I know he was only human and engaged in behaviors that I might not feel are appropriate for a man of his standing, but he sacrificed everything - including his life, to seek justice and freedom for oppressed people everywhere. That is certainly worth remembering.
